Imagine being young in Africa, unsure of your sexual health status, and too afraid to find out. The stigma around HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is pervasive, and the consequences of not knowing your status can be life-threatening. But what if we could change that? What if we could empower young people to take control of their health and their future?

This is exactly what our Youth of Africa project aims to do. We’ve partnered with a visionary UKZN student, Kayla, who understands the importance of mitigating the spread of infections by educating young people about the importance of knowing their status. Together with a South African company, C Centric Management, we’ve developed a revolutionary test kit that can simultaneously test for HIV-1/2, Syphilis, HSV-1, and HSV-2 with just one prick of a finger. And the best part is that results are given in just 15 minutes and kept confidential throughout the entire process.

Often children of a young age do not have the resources available to get tested, nor do they know that they need to get tested if they practice unsafe sex or have experienced abuse. Knowing your status early on can save and protect your life and the lives of others. We want the youth to love themselves, value themselves, and know their self-worth enough that they prioritize their sexual and mental health.

The goal is to create a safe and confidential environment where young children and students can get the help and guidance needed regarding these concerns. But we can’t do it alone. Kayla needs our help to get this project off the ground, and we’re asking for your support. The Mothers Of Africa – ANC Testing Panel has been specifically developed to provide a Simple, Fast, Efficient, User-Friendly workflow in laboratory and clinic care-settings, in both urban and rural resource-challenged environments so as to deliver consistent accurate and reliable results.

Specific focus must be given to the end-user efficiency and simplicity in order to aid and support scarce and valuable resources – including time and human resource – and simultaneously deliver sufficient support to the population dynamic within the program to achieve the desired patient outcomes.

As women, we also aim to improve and enrich the lives of others and by doing this we have structured a package called “Business in a Box” whereby we help to uplift and upskill other women and men who have come from abusive and underprivileged circumstances, by setting them up with a printing business. They then run and maintain it so that they can make a substantial living and gain back their dignity and self worth, thus creating a brighter future for themselves as well as others.
